The Nollywood & African Film Critics’ Awards, also known by the international press as The NAFCA, are internationally recognized prestigious awards for achievements in the film industry.

Winners are awarded the NAFCA Trophies, officially the Award of Merit that is much better known by its nickname The NAFCA. The NAFCA Awards will stand firmly with the rest of the world to up lift positive messages to the world by celebrating the African arts and culture through films and music. The NAFCA Honors encompass the great accomplishments of individuals that have excelled in their craft and professional achievements, lifetime achievements, and effortless work as humanitarians thus: the awards are given annually to recognize outstanding individuals whose lives have been marked by extraordinary personal and professional accomplishments.

The NAFCA Special Honors were presented for the first time in 2011 to President Nelson Mandela. Recipients of this award in subsequent years include His Imperial Majesty Kabiyesi Alaiyeluwa Oba Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II The Ooni of Ife, Senator Ben Bruce, President Paul Biya, President Yahya Jammeh of The Gambia, Honorable Ama Muna Tutu the Cameroon minister of Arts and Culture, Dr. Folorunsho Alakija, Legendary James Brown, Bobby Womack, Oscars’ award winner Louis Gossett Jr., Hollywood actors Glynn Thurman and Keith David among others.
